Code of Conduct

To uphold our values as a family, to protect the welfare and wellness of all Legionnaires, to promote fair play, community, and respect for all, all guild members shall strictly adhere to the Everquest 2 Rules of Conduct and the "Play Nice" Policies.
EQ2 Rules of Conduct
As much as it stands for family, respect, diversity, community, and the promotion of the general welfare for all players in Norrath, The Fallen Legion is not a guild for every player. Players who believe that they have a right to do anything, say anything, and act in any manner, no matter who those actions may harm, no matter who those actions may affect, and no matter what rules or guidelines exist, and who have no intention of taking into account the best interests or welfare of others, do not have a place within the Legion. The Legion is a family, and family members protect each other, trust each other, and demand the best of each other. This family cooperates, respects its members, and believes in respect both online and offline. Legionnaires are good people, not just good game players.

Legionnaires must abide by the whole of the EQ2 CoC. Several of the more salient points are listed here.

EQ2 Rules of Conduct

RoC 1: You may not harass or threaten other players.

RoC 2: You may not use any sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive language. (This includes but is not limited to profanity, racism, homophobia, and misogynism in guild chat.)

RoC 8: You may not organize nor be a member of any guilds or groups within EverQuest II that are based on, or espouse, any racist, sexist, anti-religious, anti-ethnic, anti-gay, or other hate-mongering philosophy.

EQ2 Play Nice Policies

PNP 3: Foul language is not permitted, in any language. (This includes profanity in guild chat.)

PNP 5: You may not disrupt the normal playability of a zone or area. (This includes flooding or "spamming" OOC.)

PNP 7: You may not abuse other players or Customer Service Representatives.

PNP 9: You may not operate a guild that habitually violates these rules.

TFL Chat Policies

TFL A: You may not, overtly or implicitly, describe, encourage, or discuss drug use, drug abuse, or related paraphernalia, in any public chat channel including but not limited to Say, Group, Guild, OOC, and Shout.

TFL B: You may not spam the Say, Group, Guild, OOC, or Shout channels. Spam is considered any repeated comment or broadcast.

TFL Bank Policy

TFL C: You may not remove items from any Guild Bank with the intent, covert or overt, to sell those items for a profit and/or personal material gain. These actions constitute defrauding the guild and are prohibited, regardless of actual transactions committed. Violations of this clause will result in immediate expulsion from the guild without warning. No portion of any policy shall be construed to circumvent or override this provision.

TFL D: Guild Bank 1, "The Treasury," is reserved for the collected coin of The Fallen Legion, and items of Legendary, Fabled, or Mythical natures of Level 40 or greater, Master spell/skill scrolls/books, and Mastercrafted items.

TFL E: Guild Bank 2 is reserved for tradeskill rares and transmuting reagents / powders.

TFL F: Guild Bank 3 is reserved for lore and legend and collectible items.

TFL G: Guild Bank 4 is for inter-character exchange and for "free to take" items available to anyone.

TFL H: All guild banks shall be open for unlimited item withdrawal for all individuals of Legionnaire rank and above with the exception of coin in Guild Bank 1, which shall only be available to Members of The Five and Officers.

Sanctions

Guild Leaders and Command Officers reserve the exclusive right to sanction and/or remove any guild member without warning if it is in the best interests of The Fallen Legion.

Guild members who violate the Code of Conduct may be contacted by a the leadership and advised of a better way to handle the situation in the future.

Continued disregard for the welfare of the general community and for the welfare of The Fallen Legion will result in removal from the guild.

Members of the general public or members of the guild who believe a Legionnaire has violated these terms of agreement should contact a guild leader without delay. Any report from another guild leader or guild officer will be met with the utmost seriousness and investigated to the fullest. You may make this report by tell, by Private Message, or by in-game mail.

Community Commitment

The guild leadership believes that The Fallen Legion has a responsibility to its membership, to the Everfrost Server community, to the EverQuest 2 community, and to the MMORPG and online communities at large to encourage responsible behavior, promote good sportsmanship and healthy gameplay, and to protect the welfare of its members. As Sony Online Entertainment reserves the right to sanction the guild based upon the actions of its members, the guild as an organization is mandated to uphold the guidelines established by SOE, not only for the good of the guild, but for the good of the game.

Everquest 2 is a positive, enjoyable leisure activity for the members of The Fallen Legion, and no part of that experience shall belittle, demean, or abuse a Legionnaire or another Everfrostian, for behind every character is a player, and people are always more important than play.

Rank Policies

The Fallen Legion Rank Policy, version 4.0, is a significant revision of the operational structure of the guild. Our previous two revisions of rank policy were designed to respond to the evolution of the organization over the course of the years and better define the roles into which players naturally fall. This revision is no different, and seeks to codify (rather than to impose the definitions of) the work of each Legionnaire.

Our continued desire is to promote respect and understanding, individual achievement, and a high quality of game experience for every player. The outstanding qualities of character essential to the Legionnaire - respect, honesty, and diligence - are implicit in membership, and are expected from everyone in the organization.

Apprentice - Apprentice

Arguably the most important component of the rank and progression system within The Fallen Legion is the Apprenticeship.

New recruits enter The Fallen Legion into a Probationary Period during which they are expected to demonstrate understanding of the Mission Statement, the Code of Conduct, and the guild policies in their actions and words. Both deed and action must be reflective of the way of the Legionnaire during this period. Apprentices may be initially trustworthy individuals, and may even be experienced adventurers, but as every organization has its own codes and caveats, the new member must take the time to study the values we hold dear and to discover if they are in alignment with his or her own.

  • Learn patience and take the time to read and research
  • Study and adhere to the Mission Statement
  • Study and adhere to the Code of Conduct
  • Work cooperatively with other Legionnaires
Why the Apprenticeship?

The reason for this is simple. We are a family. It takes a special individual to become a part of it. The Fallen Legion is not about leveling, quests, or guild status. It is about relationships, respecting others and their views, and going out of your way to help a fellow Legionnaire - indeed, a fellow Norrathian - when ineeded. Creating and keeping a family feel in a large guild is very, very hard, and we take our commitment to that family very seriously. Membership in a top-level guild, let alone one as respected as the Legion, is a coveted prize, and we must take care to maintain the highest standards of integrity, conduct, and character to ensure that it remains so for all the days of Norrath.

The Way of the White Helm

Becoming a Legionnaire requires a "rightness of fit." The Way of the White Helm is intangible. It is an attitude, a way of life. It is the heart of the Legionnaire, and it cannot simply be worn. The White Helm is armor far stronger than metal. Consequently, the Apprenticeship is not defined in terms of a length of time or a set of quantifiable benchmarks that must be achieved; rather it is decidedly subjective in nature.

Understand as you begin this journey that not every Apprentice will become a Legionnaire. We value maturity. There are some players, particularly those in their adolescent and teenage years, who are not truly interested in being a contributing, productive member of a respect-based family like ours.

Earning Guild Points

Apprentices earn "guild faction" in the form of guild points, awarded by the guild leadership. (Specifically, Members of the Council of The Five can award guild points.) Be it because of a good report from another Legionnaire or player, or because of a personal observation or experience, a Council member will add one (1) guild point to an Apprentice's guild points tally on the Guild Screen when that Apprentice demonstrates excellence. No more than a single guild point should be awarded at any one time.

How to Avoid Promotion

Asking for a promotion is the surest way to be denied one. Such behavior reflects an opportunistic, materialistic philosophy. Demonstrating cooperative, steadfast work ethic, leading by example, and adhering strictly to our standards of conduct will show readiness for greater responsibility and reward.

An Apprentice who has a lapse in judgment, is offensive or disrespectful, shows impatience or rudeness, represents the guild poorly, or otherwise steps significantly outside of established policy, shall be dismissed from the guild.

Candidate - Candidate

Once a Member of the Council of The Five feels that an Apprentice has demonstrated definite comprehension of the Way of the White Helm, and has demonstrated word and action that exemplifies that understanding, s/he will promote the Apprentice to Candidate.

A Candidate is an Apprentice who is under review for consideration for full membership. It is at this point that each Member of The Five will make his or her own determination as to the viability of the candidate to become a Legionnaire. A Candidate must acquire the approval (in the form of at least one awarded guild point) of no fewer than Four of the Five members in order to become a Legionnaire.

A Member of The Five may prescribe a particular task, or set a certain benchmark, that the Candidate must fulfill in order to earn that Council member's point. A Member of The Five may have, through observation or investigation, already assessed the worthiness of a Candidate.

Legionnaire Reserve - Legionnaire Reserve

Full members of the organization who have alts and secondary characters will have those characters ranked in the "Legionnaire Reserve." The rights, privileges, and responsibilities of Legionnaires Reserve are identical to those of standard Legionnaires. This designation is used solely for the purposes of identifying a player's main character.

Players may opt to promote an alt to a main or demote a main to an alt at liberty by requesting the aid of a Command Officer or Member of The Five.

While a player may have more than one serious, regular character, players are asked to choose one character that is the main for purposes of guild management. This name will be used to identify players in guild communications and throughout the management systems of The Fallen Legion.

Legionnaire - Legionnaire

Full members of the organization are ranked accordingly as Legionnaires. Players will generally have their main character in the organization ranked as a Legionnaire, with alts and secondary characters being ranked in the Reserve.

Having earned the full trust of the guild, Legionnaires have the right to invite new Apprentices into the organization.

Officer Reseve - Officer Reserve

Officers who have alts and secondary characters will have those characters ranked in the "Officer Reserve." The rights, privileges, and responsibilities of Officers Reserve are identical to those of Field Officers. This designation is used solely for the purposes of identifying a player's main character.

Players may opt to promote an alt to a main or demote a main to an alt at liberty through the main Officer character.

While a player may have more than one serious, regular character, officers are required to choose one character that is the main for purposes of guild management. This name will be used to identify officers in guild communications and throughout the management systems of The Fallen Legion.
This designation of the main character is especially important for officers, and is therefore not optional

Field Officer - Field Officer

On a submarine, the senior men who know everything there is to know, but still learn, are the Master Chiefs. In the academic world, those people who have been there and done that, and go on to study further and eventually become senior mentors in their craft receive the Master's Degree. Among the Jedi, only the most seasoned practitioners of the Force become Masters.

Field Officers are those Legionnaires who have attained mastery in their fields by attaining great prestige and accomplishing great feats become models for others to follow, who have carried the name of the Legion to the skies and beyond where the very winds whisper the tales of their greatness. Their names are whispered on the winds from the barren sands of Ro to the very spires of Everfrost. They are the great mentors of their ilk, titans of character as well as prowess.

Promotion to Field Officer is not lightly given. These Legionnaires are themselves a great council of strong souls, who share a common bond and a common dedication to others. They are selfless and magnificent, and shoulder the whole of Norrath with their unwavering respect and pride in their family.

Command Officer - Command Officer

Organizations by definition require management. Those players who sacrifice time spent on the field of battle in order to perform the duties of the desk and the quill are Command Officers, individuals who are responsible for managerial and administrative aspects of maintaining a peak-quality organization like The Fallen Legion.

These officers oversee roster management, bank and property affairs, conflict mediation and resolution, and administration of established guild policy. Generally these players have expertise in non-combat areas, sometimes in non-gameplay areas, and spend more time than most working on matters behind the lines rather than in the field.

Promotion to Command Officer is not lightly given. These Legionnaires are themselves a great council of strong souls, who share a common bond and a common dedication to others. They are diligent and meticulous, and bear the responsibilities of management with their attention to detail and pride in their family.

The Five - The Five

The Fallen Legion is led by The Five, a council of exactly five elder Legionnaires who collectively manage the organization. Each of The Five share an equal voice in the leadership, and when matters are put to a vote, if they are, each has an equal say.

Additionally, responsibilities of the Chief Administrator include

  • Coordinating guild-wide efforts
  • Delegating responsibilities to other members of the active leadership team
No Member of The Five, Command Officer, or Field Officer may have any other character aside from his or her main with the rank of Member of The Five, Command Officer, or Field Officer. Alts and secondary characters for Members of The Five will be ranked as Legionnaires Reserve, not Officers Reserve.

The number of guild leaders may never be more or less than five as decided on 20 September 2005. Should any guild leader become inactive or resign his or her post, the remaining guild leaders, who have the discretion to involve the input of the membership at large, shall appoint a replacement guild leader to serve in that capacity without reservation.

An active Guild Leader who steps down may name his/her replacement, a practice established by Dead Morbid upon his departure from the organization. That new appointee must be received with majority consent of the remaining members of The Five. If no replacement is specifically named, the remaining Members of The Five must, by majority (with the Chief Administrator's vote breaking any ties) approve any appointee to the Council of The Five.

Inactivity Policy

Guild members who do not log on for 45 days are considered Inactive, and will be ranked with Stand-Down Status. Guild members who know that this condition will arise may request, in advance or during the absence, to be placed on a Leave of Absence, which will (if approved) provide a basic level of assurance that the player will not be deguilded automatically. Guild members who do not log on for 90 days are considered Inactive and are deguilded.

Regardless of Leave of Absence, guild members who do not log on for 365 days may be deguilded.

Members Emeritus (to include any Founding Member of the guild and any former Member of The Five in good standing) can be deguilded only after 365 days of inactivity and by unanimous consent of The Five, unless they leave the guild by choice.

Any individual character or player who is deguilded from The Fallen Legion in good standing, be it due to inactivity, voluntary departure, or account deactivation may return at any time with full restoration of rank and privilege, without probation, by contacting the active guild leadership team. This includes alts of current members, though members are encouraged to regularly log on to their alts to prevent this situation.

Any individual player who is deguilded from The Fallen Legion due to a violation of guild policy, including the Code of Conduct, or due to a violation of the EQ2 Terms of Service Agreement, shall have all of their alts removed as well, and is permanently ineligible for readmission into The Fallen Legion in any circumstance, as any character, without exception.
